Mila J – Cover Girl
Mila J doesn’t respect our vacation and we are completely fine with that.
Giving us her third project in as many months, the veteran singer has decided to switch things us on us again with Cover Girl. While The Waiting Game seemed like a continuation of the musical direction she was going in with M.I.LA and Black Friday was an experiment in her trap underpinnings, Cover Girl has the singer recording her own renditions of classic tracks from a variety of artists. This set is decidedly more R&B than the previous sets and, despite the somewhat monotone deliver she keeps going back to from time to time, she does a good job with all of them.
Special attention should also be paid to whoever did her production as they remixed the older tracks in a way that kept the original feel but made them more suitable for Mila J’s voice.
