L. Young – 4ever Young

L. Young impressed us, first and foremost, with his vocals.  He has a strong voice but he also has good control.  His voice always matches the tone of the track, whether that requires him to be a little smoother or to ramp up the energy and blast out a little more.

The thing that most listeners will notice is that the throwback quality of the tracks is what separates this from projects by his contemporaries.  Listening to this mixtape is like stepping into a time-machine to a time where mainstream R&B was more dependent on the vocal quality of the singer(s) involved and not just the strength of the production.  While this may not interest a younger set of listeners, old R&B head will feel right at home with this one.
