Jay Park has no respect for our feels or our time.

Jay Park has been dropping hip-hop heat pretty consistently for the past few years but the one thing that a lot of his fans have wanted is a full project of his R&B side.  It looks like they’re about to get their wish and the opening salvo has been loosed!

An acoustic guitar-led slow jam about always loving someone so much that you hope they will always want to be with you, Jay Park shows why he has managed to keep fans on the hook for these moments.  The production of the track has a bit of a sadness to it, but it comes across more earnest than depressing as the sneaky electric guitar comes in to brighten things up some.  Park’s voice really shouldn’t work here; he has a higher pitched tenor that can usually make a song like this feel childish, but he owns the emotion of the track and there is never a moment when he comes off as needy or annoying.  It’s the quality of his tone that has made so many of his tracks guilty pleasures and it’s in full use here.

The lyrics, though, are simple and are nothing that you haven’t heard before.  It’s the one thing that really does play against the track as a whole as there are a lot of platitudes.  They lack the poetry that you think this production would inspire.  Still, it doesn’t kill the song entirely (especially if you’re an English listener who can gloss over the meaning) and the totality ends up being a little more than the sum of its parts.  Worth a few listens.

Park’s new album, Everything You Ever Wanted, will come out October 20 (probably October 19 for the U.S.).  Consisting of 19 tracks, this set will include previous releases like Aquaman, Solo, All I Wanna Do, and 2nd Thots.  No word yet if this will be a bilingual album (considering the some of the previously released tracks were in English) or a fully Korean album.

We hope pop!gasa stays with us…

Lyrics:
If I say it’s easy, it’ll be a lie
As much as we fought, we cared for each other even more
When you were by my side, I didn’t know
When you aren’t here, I miss you so much

Through countless mistakes
I realized it’s meaningless without you
Now forever
It’s just you and me

I don’t never
wanna let u go no no
My body trembles when I hug you
My time stops, my baby
Even after 100 years pass, promise me

Please love me
the same the same the same
365 days, Everyday
Girl, I need your love
You alone are enough for me
Because

Fame will go away some day
The money I made will get spent somewhere
People who looked for me will leave
But baby you

I hope you stay with me
I hope you stay with me
Don’t change but forever
Stay with me

Baby, I became a person because of you
If it wasn’t for you
I don’t even wanna think about it my baby
You make me great baby

Even if God doesn’t allow us to be together
I will love you till the end
I’d rather die than not have you
Everything becomes meaningless

I don’t never
wanna let u go no no
Even when the world turns and the sun rises
My time stops, my baby
Even after 100 years pass, promise me

Please love me
the same the same the same
365 days, Everyday
Girl, I need your love
You alone are enough for me
Because

Fame will go away some day
The money I made will get spent somewhere
People who looked for me will leave
But baby you

I hope you stay with me
I hope you stay with me
Don’t change but forever
Stay with me
