BJ The Chicago Kid – In My Mind
You would think someone who releases music like BJ The Chicago Kid did over the course of the last year that there would have been nothing for him to give us on his album. You would be wrong. Not only did his album come out great, but he still had enough left over for one of the best freeleases of the year as well.
There is just something about The Chicago Kid’s voice that catches you in the right spot. Not that he doesn’t know how to use it to its full effectiveness; his penitent for old-school-tinged beats suits his timber well. The interesting part is that he also can bring things to a more modern sound and match the production just as well by getting a little rough with his tone. Because of that, you get someone who can deliver a song about throwing down with dudes in the street just as convincingly as he does a love song.
Quick sidenote, play these two tracks and then follow them up with On The Way To Your Heart from The Lost Files: Cuffing Season and you may have to keep your significant other off you.
