Heize is back and she bring her jazzy sensibilities with her for a track that is surprisingly addictive and mellow.

And we mean jazzy because this track is absolutely a jazz track.  From the instrumentation to the harmonies and breakdowns, this would not be out of place in a lineup with Bob Baldwin or Euge Groove.  The sound is pleasant and really does shies away from some of her other tracks urge to add a hip-hop element to make it more accessible to a wider audience.  The gamble pays off as it shows her growth as a singer and really lets her come out of her shell with slightly stronger adlibs than she has before.

It can sometimes be hard to remember that Heize came to her current career status through a stint on Unpretty Rapstar considering that she hardly ever raps anymore.  Not that we necessarily miss it; her vocals have always been slightly better in that regard.  She has an interesting tone that balances between sultry and that cute tone that works for a lot of female Kpop singers.  It gives her a kind of youthful sound but doesn’t come off as immature and really works with the type of music she does.  In this track, it also enhances that throwback feel that you get when the song starts up but still manages to sound current with just the way she phrases the lines.

Like a lot of Kpop tracks, the upbeat nature of the song is deceptive to its meaning.  Heize is singing about how she seems to have cut out aspect of herself to make her relationship work and, now that things are falling apart, she if feeling incomplete and lost.  It is something that you hear a lot of people who have been in long-term relationships or started relationships when they were very young say when they end and is relatable on a very basic level.

This is actually the second single from Heize’s new EP, Wind; the first was the ballad Don’t Know Me.

We would fall apart without pop!gasa

Lyrics:
I just wanted to play this game
Completely taken over by love
I filled myself up
No one ever told me to
But I started building a tower
I’m filled with pieces of you
Your eyes, nose, lips fill up my heart
Your unique way of talking, your tone
When they start to fade
My days start to sway
Even though so many holes are in my heart
The reason I could endure is you
Now if you take a single step away
I would break down

I don’t wanna play this game no more
somebody help
I don’t wanna play this game no more
somebody help

When the tower collapses
I’m afraid of turning into ruins
So how about I build a fence around it
So it can stay as a monument
As I imagine these things that haven’t even happened
I’m holding onto the seams
But you won’t look at me like you did before
You don’t think of our love as the Tower of Pisa
So let me get ready for the end of this game
So when it comes crashing down
We won’t be a spectacle for others
Your eyes, nose, lips fill up my heart
Your unique way of talking, your tone
When they start to fade
My days start to sway
Even though so many holes are in my heart
The reason I could endure is you
Now if you take a single step away
I would break down

I don’t wanna play this game no more
somebody help
I don’t wanna play this game no more
somebody help

The wind is blowing
I don’t think I can stand it anymore
Can’t you fill me up again?
My heart is hardening
It has lost its meaning

I don’t wanna play this game no more
somebody help
I don’t wanna play this game no more
somebody help
