Snoh Aalegra – Don’t Explain

The only way to describe Snoh Aalegra is to make up a word: blujazhop.

The songstress wraps the elements of jazz and hip-hop in a bow with her bluesy, jazzy vocals and presents them to you in a neat and emotion-stirring package.  Despite the short runtime of this set, you will be thoroughly engrossed in her sound as she croons to the man she loves about the state of their relationship and how she just can’t do without him.  To pull of something like this is hard for female artists, sounding like you love a man too much can make you come off clingy if you don’t get the sound right…but Aalegra gets it right.  She doesn’t come off as a woman who is desperate and trying to hold on to a man; she sounds like a woman who is ready to give her all and make the full commitment with someone she hopes feels the same.  This EP fills you with that kind of vulnerable loving spirit and might have you calling up the special someone to make some confession of your own.
