Louis York – Masterpiece Theater, Act II

We covered Masterpiece Theater, Act I a little over a year ago and we were impressed with what the duet had to offer.  This time around, the sound is a little different but the content is still the same.

Containing an edited version of Good Drinks, Dumb Jokes is about as close to the first EP sonically that this one comes.  There is a little more synth and a little less R&B this time around, but you still get those songs that feel like a collision of two separate styles in two sections at times.  The lyrics are the selling point for us on this one because they are talking about life in ways that are metaphorical but still teach a life lesson of some kind to the listener.  It’s not often you come away from an EP wanting to be less of an asshole, but the introspection that we got from this while still being able to dance left us in that place to want to be better people without feeling bad about the path we took to get here.
