BLACKPINK – Whistle
Of course, Kpop’s newest darlings made the list.
Before we ever heard them sing or rap, we’d seen them dance and we liked what we saw. That’s why it was surprising that their first single didn’t really feature them out on the floor as much as it could have (yeah, we know it was teamed with Boombayah, but Whistle ended up being the signature track). So getting to see the dance practice gave us everything we wanted and more.
The 2NE1 comparisons will likely persist for a while but, if we’re honest, the Queens could never move like this. BLACKPINK has that mixture of sexy, sassy, and cute that is so hard to balance out in female singers who are young but not really babies. They are confident in their abilities. They move around the floor and change formations with ease while still maintaining synchronization. And they seem like they’re having fun. This in combination with Playing With Fire has us really itching to see them in concert once they have a full compliment of songs.
