I didn’t expect this from Mr. Glover.

Over a production that is very sixties, psychedelic R&B, the rapper/singer compels the woman he loves to let him back in and sure her up…or he’s talking to his weed; it could be either.

The interesting thing about this track is that it’s very much not centered around Gambino.  The first third of the track is choral and the last third is instrumental, so you don’t get a lot of his flavor here.  It still works, though, as what he does give you is the backbone of the track and the lyrics, despite being short in their runtime, are meaningful.

This is the first single from the rapper’s next album, Awaken, My Love, which comes out December 2.

Lyrics:
I’m in love when we are smokin’ that la-la-la-la-la
I’m in love when we are smokin’ that la-la-la-la-la
I’m in love when we are smokin’ that la-la-la-la-la
I’m in love when we are smokin’ that la-la-la-la-la
I’m in love when we are smokin’ that la-la-la-la-la
I’m in love when we are smokin’ that la-la-la-la-la
I’m in love when we are smokin’ that la-la-la-la-la
I’m in love when we are smokin’ that la-la-la-la-la

Do what you want!
I’m telling you, let me into your heart
Can’t stand it, backhanded
They wanna see us fallin’ apart
You know that I love you
So let me into your heart
Let me into your heart
Do you really love me?
I’m gon’ get you, girl! Ahhhh!
This is the end of us
Sleeping with the moon and the stars
I know where you’ve been, you can see the Sun
Let me into your heart!
I really love you, girl

Girl you really got a hold on me
So this isn’t just puppy love
Girl you really got a hold on me
So this isn’t just puppy love

I’m in love when we are smokin’ that
Oh my God, I
Let me into
Girl you really got a hold, woo!
