Last time we heard from Seneca B, she informed us she was a Rascal; this time she seems to be about cooling out with Friends.

Sticking to her style of layering hip-hop beats over her own jazzy instrumentation, this time the young producer comes at us with a an interesting dichotomy of layering darker samples on top of brighter, new production.  The sounds don’t come off as at odds, however, as much as they do grounded.  It’s like a night where you’re out drinking with friends, but no one gets sloppy and you can still easily make your way home with clear memories and no regrets.

Our favorite track has to be the title track where she skillfully samples Eddie Kendrick’s Intimate Friends for a bouncy groove.
