We’re not ready.

Since the disolution of Sistar, Hyolyn has been out her grinding–both figuratively and literally–as she has, left Starship, started her own label, Bridʒ, and taken charge of her career.  Even for someone who can be considered a veteran, this is a big step to take, but we think her first track after such big moves shows that she is more than up to the task.

She comes with the vocals on this track, but not in the way we expected.  She laid it down so big and bad in One And Only You that we were thinking that she was going to do something similar for her next solo track.  Instead she dials is back some and comes with a more subtle confidence.  Part of that is likely because she didn’t have to compete with seven other voices, but the main reason seems to be that this song and its subject matter (more on that later) didn’t seem to call for it.  She slowly ramps us the tension coming in with a cool tone and warming us up with more energy as she progresses towards the final chorus and it all kind of explodes thanks to her adlibs melding with her fronting vocals.

While Hyolyn has always had the voice for any type of music she has wanted to do, but we usually have an issue with the production she chooses to accompany her (although Fruity was a straight bop).  She seems to have solved that problem this time around by getting Gray to give her a beat.  While it still fits her style (as a good producer should), he adds some color and life the undertones that are sometimes missing in her other tracks.  She has a nice amount of support for her mid-range tones while still keeping her in that R&B style that she loves and works well for her.  He also provides two solid verses and adlibs that give some added dimension to what could have been a flat progression.

Again, with our shaky translation skills, we only have a gist of what the song is about.  It seems to have a two-fold meaning.  The first seems to be about her stepping out a relationship that no longer fits her and says that she is no longer going to wait for things to improve.  The second meaning seems to be about her career and not waiting anymore to do what she wants when she wants.  I really do hope that this second meaning becomes clear once we get a reliable translation because Hyolyn is pushing the envelope both in front of and behind the camera in ways that are only beginning to take shape.

As for the visual…damn, girl!  Hyolyn has always had a beautiful figure and confidence in how she chooses to use it, but she really went all out this time.  All the booty in the teaser already had a large amount of her audience shook and, now that we can see what that was all leading to, she is going to have them buried before the two minute mark.

We won’t leave pop!gasa, even if they dally with the translations sometimes…

Lyrics:
Oh you’d better stop
(Oh you’d better stop)
Oh you’d better stop
(Oh you’d better stop)

I can’t control my feelings today
When are you going to open your mouth?
We’re way too different
Honestly, it’s like you’ve closed your eyes

This isn’t our first time
What’s so important about this time?
Can’t you see that our trust is broken?
It’s obvious like seeing fire

It’s like putting on clothes that don’t fit (you, more)
Now I’ll tell you why you never have to wear it again (now I feel)

There’s no other way, there’s no other way
We’ve lost our way to go back
Oh you’d better stop
Oh you’d better stop

There’s no other way, there’s no other way
We’ve lost our way to go back (why)
Oh you’d better stop
Oh you’d better stop

I tried so hard (but)
I went all in with my heart (but)
Why don’t you know?
I keep feeling so frustrated (oh no)
We’re like coffee that’s getting cold
Like a candle that’s burning out
We almost got closer but we’re not getting any closer
bye-bye (Good-bye!)

I just didn’t want to be the one who said it
So I kept waiting
We knew what to do
But we were too tired to do anything
We did all we could, I know this too
But it’s so sad to see things end like this
But if you think about us, hmm

There’s no other way, there’s no other way
We’ve lost our way to go back
Oh you’d better stop
Oh you’d better stop

There’s no other way, there’s no other way
We’ve lost our way to go back
Oh you’d better stop
Oh you’d better stop (why)

I be on my way
You be on your way baby (keep going)
Whenever I think of you
I just need to keep working (go hard)
That’s how I can gain strength (oh my)
I don’t wanna think about anything else
I wanna empty out all my thoughts of you

Cowardly and difficultly, every day
I know you withstood me
(I know I know I know)
Things won’t get better, no use of dragging it out, just leave now (now I feel)

There’s no other way, there’s no other way
We’ve lost our way to go back
Oh you’d better stop
Oh you’d better stop

There’s no other way, there’s no other way
We’ve lost our way to go back
Oh you’d better stop
Oh you’d better stop

I be on my way
You be on your way (separate ways)
I be on my way
You be on your way (I’m on my way)
I be on my way
You be on your way (away from you)
I be on my way
You be on your
