You would be forgiven for thinking this was a Little Dragon track because Yukimi Nagano is doing the majority of the vocal work on this track, but it’s really a nice intersection between two eclectic groups.
Nagano’s vocals are just magical here. The woman has the ability to sing just about everything and adjust her voice accordingly. The minimalist production on the track matched with her ethereal harmonies is a lovely effect. The fact that there is a huge instrumental gulf between her part of the song and Posdnuos’ section speaks volumes, especially when you analyze the lyrics. Her section seems to be begging her lover to stay with her and treat her well while his section seems to be him coming to the realization of all he has done and can lose. The line “drawn” between them is wide and it’s going to take a lot more to get back to where they need to be…if they can.
The visual for the song is stunning, but can be a lot to decipher in just one viewing. There is a lot going on and the story it is telling is one that, we think, informs on something personal for one (or all) of those involved.
