Do you know Ryan (Choi)?
Probably not considering that his name (for America) is pretty common and his imprint, Imagine Muzik, hasn’t posted a new video in over a year; meaning he flies under the radar. Despite that, the singer has been pumping out pretty solid releases for more than two years. And, considering that he is usually the principle writer, producer, and performer for these tracks, that’s pretty impressive. His (almost) latest track is one of his best.
White Rose is just a good vibe. The production itself is highly dynamic without being distraction. The combination of the more simplistic acoustic piano at the forefront combined with the more electronic sound on the verse only to switch to a nice, swooping electro R&B sound for the chorus keeps things flowing and just makes this an instant bop from that standpoint alone.
Luckily we don’t just judge on the beat though because there is more to this. His vocals are on point, adjusting to the intensity of the production so that he is never blasting out unnecessarily. His vocals are on point, adjusting to the intensity of the production so that he is never blasting out unnecessarily. To be able to ride this kind of beat without either being overtaken by it or clashing with it is a hard thing and he manages well. The only complaint we have is that the harmonies are lackluster (likely due to a limit of resources). A few more voices in backtracking would have helped flush out those first few lines of the chorus and really made this work all the better.
Still a really good song and worth a listen. If you like what you hear, pay Ryan a visit at his SoundCloud page and check out what else he has to offer.
Unfortunately, this track is likely not going to get a translation because of a lack of popularity (although you can find the Korean lyrics on Genius). We’ll keep looking, though, and add the lyrics if anything changes.
