It’s been more than a year since we had a new Soulection White Label, but this one is right on time for summer months.

Hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil, production duo DKVPZ’s (pronounced Deekapz) sound is rooted firmly in afro-funk.  No matter the overall pace of the track, the underlying, clicking rhythms give it energy beyond that of the melody and the R&B samples used.

Compared to a lot of the other producers who have participated in the White Label series, there is a lot more emphasis on vocal samples in their work.  This can be a little distracting on a track like Aqui no Baile, where so many sounds overlapping just sound like chaos, but every other track comes across as strong and the vocal embellishments add a nice texture to the overall sound.  The fact that most of the samples sound like they are in Portuguese or Spanish as well gives this a nice authentic feel.

Our favorite track is Não olha pro lado.  The most skippable is Aqui no Baile.
