Jun Hyung, now formerly of Beast, is not wasting any time and is already putting out music.
In a little bit of a departure from the style that he became know for as part of Beast, he goes for a smoother, more mellow sound that focuses more on his vocals than the production. About doing that last thing that will allow you to wipe the slate clean after a bad breakup, the romantic feel of this song belies its underlying strength. The acoustic guitar and sweet tone make it seem like he’s begging her to take him back, but he’s actually saying that he will wants to be free of everything about her that hurt him and this is the last time he will actively think about her.
Jun Hyung’s voice and DAVII’s rapping are a nice compliment to one another as neither of them get to boisterous in their delivery and keep the pace of the track steady without making it boring. The lyrics are that good kind of straightforward; they convey a situation that a lot of people can relate to without being too generic in term so that it seems like more than just platitudes (even though there are a lot of those). It’s the kind of song that sneaks up on you with how good it is and we can’t wait to hear more.
We will never be done with pop!gasa…
Lyrics:
This is the last time I’m gonna write a song about you girl
There’s gonna be no more hurting while reminiscing about you
I won’t go in front of your house even if I end work early
I won’t pour a drink when I hear something about you that I didn’t wanna know
Yeah, I’m sorry baby, let me apologize first
For the sin of having our story in every song
I can’t help it though, all of my memories have you in them
Though it hurts, there’s only stories of us, damn
Our short romance was more dynamic
Than the hundreds and thousands of melodramatic movies
Maybe that’s why I still haven’t gotten over you
But it’s time to say goodbye
When this song is over, I’ll erase you completely
I’ll empty out all of you who has been in me
When this song is over, I won’t ever look for you again
But still, will you remember me sometimes?
This is unfair but I hoped that you’d listen to my songs
And feel bad and come back to me
I had so much to say but I was too scared
So this was the only thing I could do
But I realize, there’s no use
Looks like you erased me, looks like you’re living a good life
There is no expression to compare you with
So I keep writing about you in my lyrics as I am in pain, oh no
My damn imagination is uselessly good
Thoughts about you standing next to someone else
They’re engraved in my head with needles sharper than what was used to tattoo my body
I yelled at myself to stop this vicious cycle
But I couldn’t lift her out
It took way too long
But I’ll let you go now
When this song is over, I’ll erase you completely
I’ll empty out all of you who has been in me
When this song is over, I won’t ever look for you again
But still, will you remember me sometimes?
But I’m so glad that
Our memories will live forever in this song
When you miss me, listen to this song
Listen to how happy I was and how much pain I was in
But I’m so glad that
Our memories will live forever in this song
When you miss me, listen to this song
Listen to how happy I was and how much pain I was in
When this song is over, I’ll erase you completely
I’ll empty out all of you who has been in me
When this song is over, I won’t ever look for you again
But still, will you remember me sometimes?
This is the last time I’m gonna write a song about you girl
There’s gonna be no more hurting while reminiscing about you
I won’t go in front of your house even if I end work early
I won’t pour a drink when I hear something about you that I didn’t wanna know
Good to know what my favorite used-to-be-Beast is up to… 🙂
Awww. I didn’t know your favorite group was Beast. If it makes you feel better, the others look like they’re going to stay a unit
Yeah, one of my favs back in the day. I always thought Yoseob was cute as a button, and GiKwang had a voice like melted butter, but Jun Hyung was my favorite because of his backstory, where he came from, how he was literally born dancing, LOL~ His love for his craft and his talent inspired me. And he seemed to use every single joint in his body to dance, like Rain does. Those early B2ST days helped suck me right into K-Pop, LOL 🙂 I’ll always have a soft spot for ’em, you know?
😀
Yong Junhyung is still part of Beast. It was Jang Hyunseung who left the group.
I know. But I was unsure at the time I wrote this about the rest of Beast staying together.
