The king of the MPC doesn’t really have to produce tracks anymore; he’s got a good thing going with his own MPC board and associated software, so imagine our surprise when we discovered that he dropped two EPs over the last few days.
Goon Loops isn’t as dynamic track to track as King is but it’s still a good listen. The mostly dark beats have a pulsing energy that make them nice to listen to when you’re trying to work out or just need some hype background music.
The best thing about them, though, is that these tracks seem to be made for someone to either rhyme freestyle over. The consistency of the beats lends themselves to great song structure and the energy behind them guarantees that someone will want to listen.
