The MelOn Awards were live-streamed for us Westerners over the weekend and, we have to say, that it was one hell of a show. Even though we don’t have any subs for the award speeches as yet, the fact that most of the show was performances made up for the language barrier.
After performing a half-live/half-hologram intro that, honestly, came off better than EXO’s at last year’s awards simply because length and focus, BTS performed their megahit I Need U with some new choreography and new production. Well, the production isn’t entirely new; the base elements for the original track are there but with new synth runs and fewer orchestral stings. The vocals were a little shaky (due to the dancing) but they weren’t bad and, while we have a feeling the close nature of the performance didn’t play well in the stadium, the intimacy though television/devices was a nice touch.
Also, congrats to the guys for winning best dance group.
