San E has decided to lay down a tribute to his father.  Over a smooth production that sounds like it samples part of Zapp’s Be Alright (better known by many for being sampled in Tupac’s Keep Ya Head Up), he sings and raps about how much he love his father.  The heartfelt track ends with a telephone call between the two mean that has them laughing and sounding like old friends.  The feeling is similar to what you would get from Big Sean’s One Man Can Change The World, but the gist of this track is more about encouragement than inspiration.

pop!gasa has returned to us…for now…

Lyrics:
Let me tell you a story about a little kid
He is making a complicated face
He just overheard some adults saying
That he was an adopted child

Now he finally understands why his relatives looked at him awkwardly
He started fighting a lot, started getting crooked feelings
He became an adult without getting those scars healed
And alcohol turned those scars into anger

He remembers clearly, the winter when he was 16
His father who bore him with his heart
His father started throwing up blood
He was so scared, he ran outside barefoot
But then he came back

Now he’s a normal head of the household
With his pain buried inside, he became a janitor
He comes back early in the dawn and touches the hands of his two sons sleeping
Remembering how he was when he was that age

Going back to the times
When we used to play guitar and be happy and sing

Like father, like son
Wherever we go, we’re so alike
Even if no one says it, we’re the same
Words I was too shy to tell you

I love you, my father
When I become a father too some day
I wanna be just like you
Like father, like son

Let me tell you my story when I was a kid
Just when I was about to enter middle school, my family immigrated
I didn’t care about flying for the first time
Because I had no friends at this faraway place

When I couldn’t adjust, my only friend was music
Music didn’t discriminate against me
It made everything possible in my mind when it wasn’t in reality
I prayed, dreamed and eventually, my dream came true

I ran so hard and when I tripped and fell
I started thinking about my father
How did you endure through this?

Now that I’m an adult, I realize how lonely this fight is
I used to immaturely think I’d never want to be like you
All those times you quietly worked for your family
I can’t even imagine how heavy those times were

Why did I realize this now?
I remember when you came back from work at dawn
You touched my hand when I pretended to be asleep
You looked at my face for a while and hummed

My father, I’m going back to those times
And singing with you

Like father, like son
Wherever we go, we’re so alike
Even if no one says it, we’re the same
Words I was too shy to tell you

I love you, my father
When I become a father too some day
I wanna be just like you
Like father, like son

Even if I’m born again, I wanna be your son
No I want to be your father in my next life
So I can make your unfulfilled dreams come true

You suffered so much my father
Now don’t walk alone, lean on my shoulder
I wish you could stay like this forever
I’m singing for you

Like father, like son
Wherever we go, we’re so alike
Even if no one says it, we’re the same
Words I was too shy to tell you

I love you, my father
When I become a father too some day
I wanna be just like you
Like father, like son
