Erin Stevenson has set out to fuse the 80s and modern pop sounds into something that she can call her own and she has managed to make it work. The modern edge of her sound comes primarily from her lyrical style and content tackling her subject matter from a more modern sensibility. The production definitely has the 80s tinge to it, but the bass is a little heavier and the synth is a little lighter, but it works well. What really stands out here are her vocals, which have a little bit of a Vanity edge to them, but with a more grounded base than the 80s singer was capable of giving, making the songs sound better and have the ability to age better.
