It’s Leshurr season again and she has a good track for the summer heat.

Hoping on a production that takes advantage of the island sound, Lady Leshurr comes with some words for the man looking her way…that all he has to do is pick up the phone and call and she is down for whatever!

While we usually refer to Lady Leshurr as a rapper, she does sing on several of her songs.  This is probably the first we can recall where the entire track is her giving us vocals and, while the amount of autotune on her voice disrupts the mood a little, she manages to give personality and emotion while keeping us invested.  We would really like to hear her with the autotune turned down just a little as we have heard her without it and she can sing.  But it won’t ruin the song for most people and it does, in the end, give her an interesting sound.  And once it combines with the slow-wining sound of the beatwork, her voice does its job of getting your hips moving.

Lyrically, this is probably the weakest of her tracks.  Going for more a love song style with this one, she leaves out the wordplay and goes for the straightforward message with a lot of repetition.  There really isn’t anything you haven’t heard before here and the only appeal comes from the use of island patios to go along with the mood of the production.  This can sometimes make the song more interesting, but we are living in a post-Work world and it has been done better and several times before.

In comparison to her freestyles like Black Panther and #UNLESHED 2, this one doesn’t have quite the same impact.  It’s not a song we would skip if came on in random streaming play or turn off on the radio, but it definitely doesn’t leave a lasting impression.  This isn’t a song that makes you want to find out more about the person doing it, but it is one that is fun to get up on the dancefloor for.

Ultimately, while we say this is worth a few listens, we want to hear what else she has to offer from her new project before we commit to listening when it comes out.

This is the first single from the rapper’s “debut” album, Unstable, which is supposed to drop this summer.
