While she has admitted to leaking her own track, Party Favors, in order to get her label to stop messing around and release some new material from her, we don’t think that Tinashe has anything to do with this one.
If we had to guess, based on the sound of the DJ Mustard production, this track has the potential to end up on her upcoming Joyride album as the production falls in line with Player and is more upbeat with its eighties throwback tinges. The young singer/songwriter sound very nice without the use of autotune on her vocals as well as showing some growth between albums/mixtapes with richer tones in her delivery. The writing falls in line with other tracks she’s done in the past, speaking on more complex relationship situations (like deciding between her lover or her career). It’s the kind of song that her longer term fans have come to expect from her and that people who have only gotten to know her official releases are aching to hear.
