While we haven’t posted on Espa since this time last year, she has been making some pretty solid musical moves.  Back in July she released the short but strong LG60 and has been doing some nice covers and collabs.   Now she’s back with a moody Swan Song.

About those moments of introspection when you start to reassess your life choices, the songs has a far more upbeat production that you might expect.  While mid-tempo, the brighter tones and funky bassline make it more of a groove than a sit.  Her vocals are soulful and elegant, doing just enough to add the emotional tone without oversinging the track.  Giggs verse is somewhat hit or miss, based soley on the fact that he becomes hard to understand at the moments when the beatwork overtakes him mumbly flow.  Lyrically, though, both he and Espa follow the same train of thought that reassess what really matter in life.  The theme doesn’t hit you over the head, but it does make you think…which is the point of any good song.
