Originally featured on Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiement’s Surf earlier this year as a solo interlude, D.R.A.M releases an extended version of his heartfelt Caretaker, now featuring SZA.
The soft melody, romantic of the track remains the same, which has the singer/rapper trying to convince the woman who has left him that the other women meant nothing and she’s still the priority. The addition of SZA flushed out the song as she responds as the ex, saying it’s too late to fix things. SZA sounds wonderful and her vocals show some improvement over her those of her album. D.R.A.M., while not the best singer, still manages to make is part of the track easy to listen to by giving more emotion than many heralded crooners. The effect of the two together is strong; you get the feeling of two people who have lost something good because of one person’s inability to stay strong in the face of temptation.
