Ta-ku said on Instagram that he was embarrassed to have recorded his own vocals for this track and, after hearing it, we have to wonder why.  The producer/photographer (guess we should add singer to that slashlist) sounds amazing on this slowed down remake of the Estelle classic, American Boy.  Changing the sex of the song’s protagonist as well as giving a more orchestral feel with the beatwork, the entire mood and tone of this track has changed.  It goes from something happy and kind of off-the-cuff to something deeper and more contemplative.  The addition of Wafia, who has a sweet creates a nice interplay and makes the song almost a conversation between two people…even with both singing about the “American-ness” of the other.
