Teaming up with Lil Wayne, August Alsina drops another gem that is sure to get people excited for what he has in store. With a production that has a pulsing beat teamed with a more smooth melody, the duo talk about why they do the things that they do and why they don’t feel bad about it. Alsina’s vocals are the draw as his tone is the selling point of the lyrics cocky vibe.
Unfortunately, the track probably could have done without Weezy’s autotuned flow as it doesn’t fit the more mellow aspects of the beat or Alsina’s vocal delivery. The majority of his first verse and most of the second are on topic, however, even though there are quite a few lines that really have nothing to do with the theme. Altogether, this is fairly solid track and show that the singer is capable of maintaining his style while continuing to sing about the current state of his life.
Alsina’s as-yet-untitled sophomore album is expected to be released towards the end of this year.
