I caught sight of these ladies a few years ago (before the blog started) when I ran across their cover of Bruno Mars’ Locked Out Of Heaven. A female trio that played real instruments? There was a real thirst for to know more, but I never saw anything else from them…until now.
Releasing their first single, the ladies drop some feel-good funk/R&B about getting drunk on the sweetness of the music. Their voices are strong with an earnestness that displays confidence instead of sass and works with what they seem to be trying to do. The track’s instrumentation gives some throwback Prince/Shelia E. feels, so it places the sound squarely in the 80s (at least for this track). It’s a solid first attempt by the group that has left us hungry for more. We just hope they don’t leave us hanging for another two years for we do.
