There is nothing like coming out of a relationship and realizing that you didn’t leave your sense of self behind.  Vivian Green has seen the light about her man and she has come through the bad time whole and better.  I’m Not Broken has the singer belting out her heart to an ex to let him know that he never had it.  There is something triumphant in her tone, as if she feel gratified that she trusted her instincts about this man.  The production by Kwame is midtempo but has that old-school hip-hop feel that is new for Green but helps the track immensely as her usual down-tempo style would make this feel sadder than it actually should.  The lyrics are solid and convey strength of soul and peace of mind as she feels empowered to continue on in life without someone who weighed her down.

Vivid, Green’s new album, hits stores August 7.  It will also feature the single Get Right Back To My Baby.
