Currently working on her EP, Midnight Sound, London-based singer Bassette gives smoky tone to a dark, mellow beat on Cool Water. The song appears to be about how the relationship she’s in both cools and thrills her. Her vocals have that jazz-tinged vibe that works with the poetic lyrics and minimalist beat, especially towards the end with her soft, flowy harmonies. The production, while becoming somewhat standard for alt. R&B tracks now, still has enough personality in it to be interesting. The lyrics, while cryptic, still convey a good message and you get the feeling of an icy river flowing around you as the entire piece comes together.
