Upon first listen to this track you would be forgiven for thinking this is a remake of a Luther Vandross track (we had to look it up). The production and the background harmonies have that Luther signature. This is an original song, though, and it seems that Jaheim may be filling a void left by the late singer.
Back In My Arms has the singer lamenting the loss of the woman he loves as he realizes that nothing in life is same without her. Jaheim’s vocals are definitely in line with the music that he has done in the past, but this is the first time that we actually noticed the Vandross inspirations in the way that he sings. The simple but emotional delivery will keep the listener engaged, even as the production is minimal. The lyrics float between strong concrete imagery and strong metaphor, making it something that can be related to easily.
This is first single from his upcoming album due out sometime this year.

Y can I not find the writer of back in my arms!!!! I want to know if marsha Ambrose had something to do with it and if not….I think she should sing it with him bcuz they are two of my favorite r n b singers… love this song and always knew ja had it in him since day one….this one for sure goes down in the greatest hits of all times!!!!!!!
Marsha didn’t have anything to do with the writing of this song. It doesn’t even share any writers she’s worked with in the past.
