Stacy Barthe was born in Brooklyn New York but is of Haitian decent and grew up on Long Island, New York. Writing her first song at age eight her family knew what she was going to be doing for the rest of her life. Barthe grew up listening too many of the greats in rock, pop, and jazz. Needing an outlet for her emotions Barthe took to songwriting and singing. To this day all of her music is written about her life and how it makes her feel. In every piece you will see how her life has influenced her music. Instead of having negative songs though Stacy takes her negative emotions and turns them into uplifting songs that are meant to bring a smile to both your face and your heart. Over the course of her life she has met and overcome many challenges from addiction to depression to weight control.
A touch of soul music can be found in Stacy’s R&B genre music, a combination that has been described as slow-burning. Stacy is was first signed onto Universal Music Publishing group in 2007 as a singer/songwriter. Her first song with the group was Blur sung by Britney Spears. Stacy continued on to work with some of the music industry greats such as Diddy, Rhianna, Katy Perry, Cool and Dre, and Jerry Wonder.
Stacy is now signed with Universal Motown Records and has over 10 songwriter credits to her name. Out of her five extended plays people credit her Sincerely Yours, Stacy Barthe as the album that kick started her music career. Barthe’s analysis of her own songwriting for her first EP was that it felt like a therapy session as she wrote it, a feeling that she embraces and feelings will help others connect to her music. Her most recent EP Becoming focuses on the changes she has made in her life, including battling her weight.
With Stacy Barthe it’s hard to tell whether her song writing or her infectious singing style is the winner. They both have won over many fans.
