Deborah Cox is not letting an opportunity pass her by. After her well-received performances giving voice to Whitney Houston in the Lifetime biopic of the singer’s life, she is taking the renewed interest in her to release a single. Kinda Miss You starts off sounding like a 70’s-style empowerment track before transitioning into an 80’s-style heartbreak track. The dancey production and vocals will remind people a little of Houston in some ways, but these are the kind of tracks that made Cox famous in her Canadian homeland. The vocals are stunning and give just the right amount of oomph without going overboard.
We can only hope that this is the precursor to a new album from the R&B vet.
