Featuring his two previous singles, I Thought About Leaving Her and Turn Down, R∆§H∆Ð has finally dropped his completed album and it has a nice sound to it.
Starting off with the Libations Pt. 1 & 2 intro, we get the feeling that we are in for a mixture of mid-tempo, throwback-inspired tracks that touch on his life, love, and couple of uncomfortable truths (i.e., What are these pyramids/Jesus ain’t white). Throughout the LP, his vocals reminded us somewhat of a young Raphael Saddiq but with a little more bass in his voice at times. While you begin to notice that the harmonies of the tracks are minimal at times, the tracks never sound shallow or lacking in energy. The production of the tracks feels like a celebration of where we have come from musically with a nod to where we going with the infusion of more modern core sounds and R∆§H∆Ð’s more modern vocal style. The lyrics have a stream of consciousness flow to them at times, with insertions seem to have nothing to do with the track you are listening to but relate to the overall theme.
You feel like there is a lot of thought put into the overall feel of this album and, because of that, the fifteen track length doesn’t feel like an interminable sit. Instead it’s a journey of substance that doesn’t weigh you down too much so that you will listen again and again.
