Toronto is on the move!
New singer (at least to us) 11:11 is sharing his personal pain with us through his self-titled EP. Having written many of the songs when he was having a hard time in his love life, many of the tracks are tinged with that internal sadness we feel when something we want begins to fall apart.
That doesn’t mean that the songs are all slow; many of the tracks hit the upper mid-tempo range of speed and are good for some fun. There are also tracks that have some attitude in their construction. The lyrics are nice and have both metaphoric and prose elements, meaning that people who are looking for something a little stronger than your average radio faire in the lyrics department might find it here.
His singing style could be described as a cross between PARTYNEXTDOOR and James Fauntleroy; a decided smoothness with just a hint of edge that makes him come across as more street than neo-soul. It’s a nice mix takes him away from the Drake hole that so many Canadian artists are falling into.
