While Ms. Jackson had to cancel a few more concert dates over the weekend to rest her vocals chords, we were surprised to find our that the Target edition of her album came with two bonus tracks.

The first track, Promise Of You, is a somber ballad about living up to your full potential against the words of the naysayers.  The production of the track kind of reminded me of the George Michael classic, From Jesus To A Child.  What starts out as a piano ballad turns into Spanish jazz after the first chorus.  The harmonies are minimal and centers around Jackson’s vocals to keep the listener engaged.  The lyrics seem minimal, as if the song was somewhat unfinished (a common theme among a lot of Target bonus tracks).  It’s a good song, but it isn’t for all moods.

Love U 4 Life is a more upbeat track that has a mellow, throwback sound that will ring a few bells in your head without sounding like a copy or a sample.  The lyrics on this one seem a little more complete this time around as she sings about how much she loves her man.   The track ends somewhat abruptly, but the atmosphere that Jackson’s vocals set in conjunction with the beatwork make it a nice listen.
