Just a Korean-language version of the title track from his Japanese EP from May of this year, Junho of 2PM drops his first album with an odd rehash. This is an odd choice for a single considering the video had to be reshot (mostly) so the lyrics sync up and Fire is just a better song, but we understand that the upbeat, throwback sound of the track along with existing publicity might have paid into things.
As it is, So Good is a surprisingly strong track when it comes to production as the upbeat, happy melody feels good as it rattles through your ears. The lyrics make sense in a roundabout way but can be a little iffy (although that might have something to do with the translation more than the actual content). Where the track falls down some is that Junho’s vocals aren’t quite up to the task of leading the track. While his spoken words and lower key parts have the right energy, he can’t quite make the falsetto transition and loses volume and conviction when he does. While that doesn’t account for the bulk of the song, it does make up the bulk of the chorus, which mean that the part of the track that is meant to get stuck in your head just won’t. It’s still a listenable song, but it just doesn’t fall into frequent listen territory.
