Fly To The Sky have returned for their first EP (tenth release overall) and the first track is the kind of ballad that has been a signature part of their style since the beginning of the duo’s careers.
We tend not to cover a lot of Korean ballads on this site because there is something that’s usually lost in the translation; ballads are meant to show off the emotional strength and vocal ability of a singer and not understanding which lyrics are getting the emphasis in the performance is the difference between good and bad emotional resonance. The reason we are cover this one is because, thanks to the subtitled and well-plotted video, we get the feeling the song is trying to convey.
About those moment just after a breakup when you wonder if you’ll be able to go on without that person, this song has an honest feel to it. It’s that feeling of wanting to hate them so you’ll feel better but not being able to bring yourself to do it. Brian Joo and Hwanhee (who only appear briefly towards the end of the video), do an excellent job on selling the emotion and their vocals keep the track engaging despite it’s slow pace.
The visual, which tells an interesting story of (in our opinion) a woman in love with the same man since high school will have many wishing they could read Korean as you feel like you’re missing key plot points in the text displays, but there’s enough here to figure out the story if your pay attention.
