Angie Stone has two addictions; one is a little too much drink and the other is her man. Over an old-school R&B/soul beat that doesn’t sound dated, the singer talks about all the complications of her life and that some wine and some good loving are how she deals with them. Lyrically, this isn’t the deepest of Stone’s work, but there is a sense of fun in the track’s storyline that wasn’t always there either. Her vocals are still soulful and well-controlled with her giving just enough to sell the track without sounding bored. The result is something that is surprisingly radio friendly without having the artist sell out her signature style.
This is the first single from her upcoming album, Dream, due out in November.
