Following the release of his album, Soulful Classics, Urban Mystic releases a jazz/soul remake of Rod Stewart’s Tonight’s The Night (once remade by Janet Jackson) as well as an accompanying performance video. While the singer couldn’t get rid of all the country twinges that are a part of the original track, his rendition of the track is an interesting and engaging version of the song. The point of the song is just what you would think, the night that two people are going to make love for the first time. But there is a sweetness to the track that implies, just like Betty Wright’s Tonight Is The Night, this the first time for the people involved (BTW, Mystic also does a cover of Wright’s Clean Up Woman on his album).
Urban Mystic’s Soulful Classics appears to be full of remakes of classic tracks from yesteryear, which makes us wonder who originally did Feel Good and how we missed that.
