With smoky tones and strong lyrics, Bassette seduces us with her Midnight Sound.
If you think you got a handle on what Bassette is about hearing Cool Water, you only know half the story. While you would classify her style as neo-soul, it’s also too restrictive a label to encompass her sound. While there is a cohesive vibe to her choice of production, each track has a different style that gives each song its own personality and makes listening easy. The first track, Run, has a bit of a light rock sound backing up the R&B vibes; Ode has a trip-hop feel to it; Ritz has an island flavor. The tracks are lyrically solid as well. Some a more straight-forward than others, but you never get lost in the metaphors.
Our favorite track here is Suffocating. The vibe is intense and the vocal delivery is a perfect match for the mood.
