It’s been a while since we heard from Shareefa but she’s coming back with her strength; those storytelling lyrics. Speaking on a relationship that begins to fall apart, the singer lets her man know that he can get things back on track if he starts treating her with respect again.
Those who are familiar with the Shareefa’s first album will immediately notice that she has adhered to the style that she had then, both in production and in vocals. The beatwork is reminiscent of similar storyteller tracks with its mid-tempo rhythms and subdued bass that highlight the vocals. Her tone, which has an interesting rasp to it, fits the track well and helps add the feeling of a woman who has lived and learned. The lyrics are the strongest part, with the idea of a love being reloaded in a similar way to a gun. The line respect the shooter works well as it both lets the lover know that she will be the one to decided whether or not he gets a second chance and tells him what he needs to do to get it.
We don’t know what this track is for, a mixtape of pay project, but we are eager to see what else comes.
