Jordin Sparks has dropped a visual for the title track of her upcoming album and, just like the track itself, it’s a little hit-or-miss.

When it comes to the track itself, Sparks vocals are on point and the lyrics, while nothing mindblowing, are solid and convey the mood of runaway love.  Where the miss part comes in is the production.  The track starts off with heavy bass and a foreign melody topped with bombastic vocal samples.  After the intro the bass fades out, but you still get the nice rhythms from the underlying beatwork.  Once the chorus comes  in, however, everything that was the intro is completely gone and replaced by a something that sounds like Beyoncé’s Standing On The Sun.  It serves to make the song feel like it’s ramping up to something that it never quite gets to.

The visual suffers from the same problem.  You get the feeling that something is coming, but it never happens.  Sparks is beautiful, but we were expecting her to do more than just stand there and sing.

The full length album will be released August 15.
