People made fun of Robin Thicke when he released his album Paula, but it seems to have freed the singer’s brain to go back to what made him a underground success; love songs. Getting back to what fans who were with him before Blurred Lines loved about him, the singer revitalizes his signature sound by telling us about a him being surprised at the love he has found. The production has that throwback feel that the crooner has always incorporated into his sound and the mellow horns add a sexy feeling to the mix. His vocals are strong and add some sass where needed, giving energy to the track. The lyrics are mixed bag (as is the case with a lot of Robin Thicke songs) as there are strong moments that make you smile and some moments that make you cringe (…the one who calls me papi…ugh).
This is the first single from the Thicke’s new album, due out sometime later this year.
