Pluto is back with a new track and we’re not sure how to feel about it.  About falling in love with someone and having everything feel brand new again, most of the song is solid.  The lyrics are earnest and honest, coming from a place of truth rather than trying to be flowerly or overly poetic.  The production, while dark and subdued, makes you feel like birth is happening somewhere (in a good way).  Pluto’s vocals are strong and full of emotion with his tone reflecting his the mood of the song.

Where things seem to fall apart a little is the combination of the vocals and the beatwork.  In some sections, especially on the chorus, Pluto sounds off-key and it doesn’t feel like that’s on purpose.  Most of that feeling has to do with the production lacking a strong, melodic presence on its own, causing the singer to make up for it with his vocals.  The overlapping of the humpback whale sounds with his delivery causes things to go off-kilter and can bring the listener out of the song.
