Over a lovely old-school production, Lyfe Jennings sings the praises of the woman who has made his life better. His smokey vocals are the highlight of the track as he emotes with honesty and the lessons of life come through with every note. The beatwork will remind some of the R&B tracks that came out of the 70’s (in fact, the first listen had us thinking he sampled The Spinners’ I’ll Be Around). The lyrics are solid and convey his love without the use of lots of flowery metaphors; choosing, instead to opt for examples grounded in reality. While we are used to songs like this from Jennings, it doesn’t make the track any less enjoyable.
Tree Of Life, comes out June 23.
