The Weeknd’s studio appears to have sprung a leak!  Three new tracks have hit the web.

The first track, Born In The 90’s, seems to lament the mindset of girls in their 20’s.  The beat actually sounds a little 80’s before the chorus hits and the heavy EDM vibe drops.  And while Abel does a good job with the vocals overall, there are times, during the heavier moments of production, that we lose him and he appears to be shouting to be heard.

The second track, In The Night, is about a woman who, through a series of bad decisions and circumstances, has a love ’em and leave ’em attitude.  But, instead of like Wale in Bad, The Weeknd doesn’t think he can change her and finds her ways fascinating.  This track also has an 80’s sound and the same vocal issue where it seems like the singer is shouting over the verbose production.  The good thing is that it seems to be a little less obvious here.

The last track, I Can’t Feel My Face, isn’t as lyrically solid as the first two but we love the Michael Jackson-esque tone of Abel’s vocals.  He’s not reaching out of his range on this one and the production has a strong dance feel to it (still very 80’s).

If these are from The Weeknd’s upcoming album, we are looking forward to the party, throwback vibe he’s to be offering.
