At first, this track by Jay Love sounds like the traditional fare about someone who wants a woman without the commitment.  On second listen, though, we heard something different.

While the chorus seems to be urging the female in question to cheat on her man, the verses say something different.  He is telling her that he wants to give her love and, by the second verse, is telling her that he is tired of being her man on the side and keeping things on the low.  The juxtaposition between the two states of mind adds a little realness to the situation that you don’t get from every song about the same subjects.

As for the production, there is an interesting sound to it as there are piano chords that are pretty prominent over the heavy bass and drums.  It’s not quite trap, but it’s not quite R&B either.  Love’s vocals are nice, although there seems to be some autotune in the places that kills the momentum of things a little.

Love Triangle, the project that contains this single, drops this Memorial Day (May 25) and will be available at all major digital retailers.
