Bobby V is a diverse artist and, while we don’t always love the direction he goes with his music, we respect his need to diversify his sound. His new track, Versace Sheets, has a mood that falls between #PBJ (which we didn’t like) and Unbelievable (which we did like). It’s doesn’t have that grown-and-sexy sound that we love from him, but it’s not so left of his style that it feels disingenuous. The production has a romantic sound to it with its multiple guitars, but there is a strong club element with the bass and handclaps. His vocals are the best part of the track with their strong tone and emotional delivery. Snootie Wild’s verse fits the concept and his voice, while a little jarring in comparison to Bobby V’s, doesn’t take us out of the mood too much. The lyrics can fall over into crass at times, but he seems to be aware of that (I said it is one of the repeated refrains) and the vocals save it by making them sound more tolerable.
