Keri Hilson isn’t here for the fake ish. Telling her ex that she is done with his lying, she lets him know that things could have been different if he had been up front with his intentions. The dark, rolling production has an intense feel to it that might have people in a similar situation putting on their ugly face and rocking to it. The lyrics are simple but a strong fit for the track as anything deeper would take some of the edge off. Her vocals are a perfect match for the beatwork as she rides it without sinking below the tide. Her attitude is a good match as well with her brash tones and f-you emphasis. The only thing we aren’t feeling is the Young Thug feature. His voice is just a bad fit for the deeper, sultry tones of Hilson and he’s extremely hard to understand.
Ms. Keri is supposed to be working on her third album with the help of producer and longtime collaborator Timbaland. We’ll see if this is just the first strike for a new Hilson era.
