The new track by Mike Jay has us all confused.  The piano-driven ballad track has a great production that draws you in right away and Jay’s vocals are strong with the right emotional weight, making the two compliment each other well.  The place where the track falls down for us is the lyrics.

From the way that he describes the woman in question, you have to wonder why he didn’t see this coming.  He states that he was hopelessly in love with her, but most of that seems to be founded in her beautiful body and great sex (that ain’t love).  So, in the end, when she takes his money and moves on, you have to wonder what exactly led him to believe they had an emotional connection in the first place.

Of course, this could be a cautionary tale about falling for the superficial.  If it is, then this song is amazing.  If not, then…live and learn.
