Everyone and their mother has been inspired by the Tupac song Me and My Girlfriend, but RL of Next has taken the novel step and only sampling the lyrics of the chorus without sampling the production. The song starts off nice with a smooth flow and RL’s vocals are in fine form as he assure the woman he loves that he won’t leave her just because he makes it big. The production will remind many fans of Next classics without sounding dated. Where the track falls down is the verse from Young Buck. While he does a excellent job of staying on topic, his brash delivery and hard tone aren’t a good fit for what the track had been up to that point. While I understand that they were going for a universal feel with the subject matter, the execution just didn’t quite work. But the song is strong as is probably one of the best solo tracks that RL has released in years.
